A crafty little key holder

So. You know when you go to the store and attemp to find a key holder and all they have is the same old same old typical shelf looking thingy??  Well, totally NOT what I wanted for our mudroom! (aka the hallway because we dont have a mud room!) So this is what I came up with! I got the pipe clamp/mason jar idea from  my friend Liz's blog. Love her! She is one crafty little lady :) you can see her blog post here... http://www.lizmarieblog.com/2011/01/mason-jar-love.html

Totally simple. All you will need is....

1 pipe clamp
1 12oz mason jar
2 hook and eyes
2 picture holders
twine
super glue
1  16in piece of wood

First I attached the picture holders side by side to hand the pipe clamp off of...

Then with twine, I spelled out *keys*

Then with twine I covered the pipe clamp. Some people like the way they look against the mason jars. Me, not so much!  I also used the hook and eyes on each side to hang the keys off of. ..

Love it! And so so simple :)

Goodwill chair Re-do!

So. I WILL admit it....my name is Danielle and I am addicted to Goodwill. True story. I have never been a fan of paying retail for ANYTHING and now that we live in a  city that actually has a Goodwill, I will forever be addicted! . We had a space in our master bedroom that needed a little something. This little gem looked just right :)  It started off rough. I mean, no wonder it was at Goodwill! The wood was scratched all to pieces and the fabric looked like it had never been washed!

First I had to sand it. A lotttttttt. There was so much furniture polish on this chair! so after what seemed like a year of sanding, I wiped it down with denatured alcohol to make sure there was nothing left on the wood so the paint would stick. I used Behr ultra white paint and polyurithane as a top coat. The cushion covers came off (thank GOD!!)  so I bleached the covers 3 times...I am a germ-a-phob!  And the finished product turned out great! It matched our bedroom perfect! Its the perfect little chair to watch tv in!

Love it :)

toilet paper roll art

shew! This is my first post in a while! My oldest son Parker was so so sick and I am just now getting in the swing of things again :)  I saw something similar to this on penterest earlier this month. Looked simple enough but, it was going to take me a little bit to get together enough toilet paper rolls! I started with this....

I then cut them into 1/4 inch sections.

I then painted them black with basic craft paint and laid out the design on my board.

I put the pieces on basic painting canvases.  I got 2 for 3.00 at Micheals!! And of course, I already had the paint and toilet paper rolls so the total for this project was only 3 bucks :)  I like that all too much!

Love it :)  It fits perfectly with our grey walls! I have been looking for something to go on this akward wall for some time now. The pictures look off center but if you look closely they are even on that wall and the corner is blending in making them look too far to the left. and that cute little chair... next blog post:)

A not too "shabby" shelf...

For a while now I have been looking for just the right shelf for our bathroom. I wanted it to be used as a shelf and a towel hanger and all the ones I found look like ones you would hang your keys on....not ideal for a bathroom! So, I made one! We went to Home Depot ( aka my fav store) and purchased a few simple supplies. The wood, 2inch screws, 3 inch screws, hooks, and behr paint. Simple right?!
I sanded then did two coats on the wood in a rich creamy color (i got paint over the label and dont know what the exact shade is ...oops.)  It was so simple. I used the 2 inch screws to attach the pieces of wood. Then screwed in the hooks and screwed the shelf into the wall studs. I am crafty BUT my experience with power tools in limited...and by limited I mean like non existent :) But, I am so proud of myself! Isn't it cute!! And OF COURSE I had to add a little mason jar love:)  I did name my son Mason afterall ;)

It is perfect for our bathroom! I love it.

microwave stand re-do

Yay!  My first blog!!!! I have been wanting to start a blog for sometime but, with 2 boys both under 2, needless to say I am one busy lady :)  I have recently fallen in love with our local Goodwill. We were in need of a microwave stand due do ours falling to pieces. Literally. It was ugly anyways ;)  So, off to Goodwill I went.  I found this sad little stand there it was only 16 bucks BUT it was a 50% off day!! SCORE!

It was a sad little stand. Water damage, the sliding thingies for the drawer were broke,(yes, I just said thingies) and there was duct tape damage all over the front and top. Luckily, I am a seasoned painter. Well, I like to think I am :)  I had left over paint and sand paper from an earlier project so the total cost of this makeover was only $8.00!!!  It took about an hour to sand it down to raw wood. Then I whiped it down with denatured alcohol to remove and possible wax or furniture polish that might have still been on there. (Paint won't stick to it!)  I used Behr Primer and Paint in Pure Clean White. One coat of primer actually covered it pretty well!

You'll have to excuse my son Parker. He never misses out on a picture ;)  After 3 coats of paint I let it sit for 24 hours for the paint to cure completly. I think it turned out amazing! It really brightens up our kitchen! AND i love the extra storage under it!

And theres Parker again!  I also removed a piece of wood along bottom. The water damage was just too severe to salvage it. There ya have it! A great Goodwill find it I do say so myself!  I am so excited about this blog! I love sharing my ideas and looking at others amazing ideas also! Hope everyone loves this piece as much as I do :)  I am currently working with mason jars....my drug of choice. Seriously. I.Am.Addicted. But, that post if coming this weekend :)
